“Property Sold As-Is”

House hunting in Toronto is a bitch.

There are not a lot of houses on the market to begin with, and there are a lot of people with more money than sense competing for them.

Take, for instance, the house with no heating on the second floor (in Canada ferchrissakes) — which went for $60K over asking price.

Or the house which had been /abandoned mid-rebuilding/ (“Handyman’s delight”) — sold within days of going on the market.

Or the tiny one-bedroom bungalow whose bedroom didn’t actually fit a bed — sold before our realtor could book us in to see it.

Or the house shaped like a triangle because the backyard is on the neighbour’s lot.

Or the house with no basement and no closets (no wait, that’s all of them).

Tomorrow we are going to go and look at 7, count’em, 7 properties. Some out of our price range, some so ugly it hurts to look directly at them. But if we’re ever going to stop renting, look at them we must.

Pray for mojo.
